Welcome!
I’m a theatre historian, teacher, actor, and director. I’m currently an Andrew W. Mellon Predoctoral Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh where I am finishing my PhD in theatre and performance studies.
I research transnational Irish theatre and censorship during the Cold War. I’m particularly interested in how performances of banned Irish plays activate and intervene into debates around local issues. My dissertation traces the histories of such performances in order to rethink censorship and its aftereffects as mobile. I’ve also written and presented research on performance and violence, musical theatre, and queer theory.
I have taught undergraduate courses in theatre history, performance studies, acting, musical theatre, and rhetoric and composition among others.
My artistic work as a director, actor, singer, dramaturg, and scenic painter informs my research and teaching. Most recently, I produced and directed North American premiere of Máiréad Ní Ghráda Irish feminist classic, On Trial. I am also a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association.
